Making a Claim in 3 Easy Steps

With AmAssurance Express, we want to make it really easy for AmAssurance Private Car Comprehensive policyholders to get their claims sorted out.

Here’s what you need to do:

 

OWN DAMAGE CLAIM

 

STEP 1: MAKE CONTACT

Call our 24-hour tollfree line at1 800 88 6333 or any of our Liberty General branch immediately after an accident.

 

STEP 2: LODGE A REPORT

Make sure you make a police report as soon as you can after your accident.

 

STEP 3: COME TO US

Bring your vehicle to your nearest Liberty General branch within 48 hours from the date of the accident with the following documents:

  • Copy of Your Vehicle Registration Card
  • Identity Card & Driving Licence of Vehicle Owner
  • Identity Card & Driving Licence of Driver (If Not the Same as Owner)
  • Police Report or Slip (with Police Report Number)

 

Please note that the vehicle owner and the driver (if they’re not the same person) must be present to sign the relevant documents.

 

Once your claim is approved, we will direct deposit into your bank account via e-payment, up to a maximum amount of RM3,000 per claim.

Notes:

  • The decision to process and approve any claims are at the Company’s absolute discretion.
  • In the event of any discrepancies discovered subsequent to our approval that may render the claim non-payable, we reserve the right to retract the claim and / or to recover any payment already transferred under the claim directly from you.
  • AmAssurance reserves the right to change any information provided under this programme without prior notice.

  • Who is eligible to use the AmAssurance Express service?

    AmAssurance Express service is available to all AmAssurance Private Car Comprehensive policyholders.

  • Do I need to lodge a police report even though my vehicle sustained minor damages?

    Yes, you are required by law to lodge a police report within 24 hours. It also serves as evidence to support your AmAssurance Express claim.

     

  • What documents do I need for submission of my AmAssurance Express claim?

    Relevant documents required are:

    • Copy of Your Vehicle Registration Card
    • Identity Card & Driving Licence of Vehicle Owner
    • Identity Card & Driving Licence of Driver (If Not the Same as Owner)
    • Police Report or Slip (with Police Report Number)
  • What is the limit which I can claim under AmAssurance Express claim?

    You can claim up to a maximum amount of RM3,000 gross.

  • I am not sure whether my vehicle could be driven after the accident. What should I do?

    AmAssurance Express is specially tailored for vehicles that could still be driven after anaccident i.e. claims involving minor damage which does not affect the safety aspect of the vehicle. If you suspect that your vehicle had sustained damages to the internal/undercarriage components of your vehicle/radiator, please refrain from continually driving your vehicle as under the Terms & Conditions of our policy, any further damage aggravated resultant from your continued usage of the vehicle prior to repairs, is not payable under thepolicy.

    Hence, in such situation, do call our 24-hour tollfree line at 1-800-88-3833 or any of our panel repairers whom would be on hand to assist you.

  • If I can't send my car to your Liberty General branch on the same day of the accident, can I still lodge an AmAssurance Express claim?

    Yes, you may as long as it is within 48 hours from the date of accident.

  • How long does it take to have my AmAssurance Express claim approved?

    Once your vehicle had been surveyed at our AmAssurance branch, your claim will be processed and approved immediately provided full documentation is received.

  • If I am the driver at the time of accident, can I lodge the AmAssurance Express claim and accept the payment on behalf of the owner?

    Both the vehicle owner and the driver MUST be present to sign the relevant documents.

  • Would I know the break down of the amount that I would be paid?

    Yes, we will provide you with a list specifying the items that we would pay up on approval of your claim.

  • How would I be paid?

    We would pay you via e-payment. Hence, it is necessary for our staff to obtain your bank account number, bank details i.e. name of bank & branch besides requesting you to sign an 'AmAssurance Express E-payment Authorisation’ form.

    Please also note the following:

    1. Only single account holders are accepted
    2. Please ensure your IC(new/old) is the same as per your bank account details
    3. Please note that for e-payment, a 3 working days observation is required upon acceptance of offer

    In the event you have not received the e-payment after 3 working days, please contact us at claimshd@amgeneralinsurance.com.

  • Can I choose any repairer to repair my vehicle after completing the AmAssurance Express process?

    Yes, you may get your vehicle repaired at any repairer of your choice. This will empower you to choose the repairer that best suits your requirement and also the best price.

  • What should I do if the workshop of mychoice is unable to repair my vehicle within the AmAssurance Express claim amount paid to me?

    You may return the paid amount to us within 7 days via cheque/bankdraft, arrange to send your vehicle to any of our panel repairer and we will have your claim processed and vehicle repaired under the normal claims procedure.

  • Would I lose my NCB by claiming under AmAssurance Express?

    That depends on who caused the accident. If the other party is at fault and this is confirmed by your submission of the below documents to us, you would not lose your NCB:

    • Signed Letter of Declaration
    • Third party’s police report
    • Police compound/findings confirming party at fault
    • Police sketch plan and keys

    Your NCB entitlement will continue unaffected if we decide that you are not at fault. Such determination of fault shall be at our entire discretion.

    Provided always that such Third Party vehicle is insured, identifiable and/or not a vehicle used for carriage of passengers for hire or reward (e.g. taxis, hire cars, public/stage/school/factory buses), not a vehicle insured by non-Malaysian insurers and there is no personal injury claim involved.

  • My car is more than 5 years old. Would I be charged betterment?

    Yes, the maximum amount we will pay for the cost of repairs to your vehicle shall be the expenses necessarily incurred to restore your damaged vehicle to its pre-accident condition (or as near its pre-accident condition as is reasonably possible). If new franchise parts are used, you will have to bear the betterment portion of the franchise parts replaced in accordance to the following scale:

    The basis in determining the age of vehicle is as stated in the Terms & Conditions of our policy under Section A – Basis of Settlement.

  • Is under-insurance applicable for AmAssurance Express?

    Yes. AmAssurance Express is an extension of the normal OD process. Hence, the same terms applicable for normal OD would apply for AmAssurance Express as well.

  • If my car is repaired, can I still make an AmAssurance Express claim?

    No, as prior approval from the insurance company must be obtained for any Own Damage repair claim. Further, in order to determine the cost of repair, we would require your vehicle to be inspected by us before commencement of repair.

  • How many times can I claim under AmAssurance Express?

    You can claim once per policy year.
